When we debuted the list below in our holiday issue last December, the response was tremendous. Not surprisingly, there is much shared pride for these young people and the choice they’ve each made to serve our country. We promised then to update the list with the additions we received and run it again. That is what you’re seeing here.
It is the same group honored at the Declaration of Independence Day Ceremony this past July 4th at Darien High School (DHS). Emceed by Mather Homestead Executive Director Heather Raker with a reading of the Declaration of Independence by members of DHS Theatre 308, selections played by the Darien Community Band and an insightful address from Darien resident and author Bob Patton, grandson of General George S. Patton, it was a fitting tribute given all these inspiring young people do to uphold the values on which our country was founded.
